6th International Air Show and China Airport Equipment Exhibition

The 6th International Air Show China 2006 was held in the International trade and exhibition center in the city of Zhuhai, province of Guandun, Chine from 31 October to 5 November 2006.

550 companies from 33 countries participated in the air show this year. In total, 52 aircraft were displayed. The exhibition area was 17 thousand square meters, which was 1 thousand square meters larger than the total exhibition area of the 5th International Air Show China held in 2004.

Air Show China is a biannual event that is held upon the directive by the Central government of Chinese People's Republic (CPR), with the state committee of defence science, technology, and industry, Ministry of Civil Aviation of CPR, the AVIC-1 and AVIC-2 All-Chinese aviation industry corporations, and a number of other CPR public structures participated.

The Ukrainian stand gathered the Motor Sich JSC, Antonov ANTK, and ZMKB Progress companies on it.

Motor Sich JSC, as usual, participated in the prestigious air show, which has already become a good tradition for the company. Participating in an air show means demonstrating the company’s achievements, promoting its new technologies, interchanging scientific and technical information, establishing new business relationships and joint projects, and holding mutually fruitful meetings with customers as well.

The head of the Motor Sich delegation, President of Motor Sich JSC Viacheslav Boguslaev visited the exposition and showed interest in its stands and the first flying specimen of the supersonic L-15 Hunt Eagle operational trainer. The aircraft is propelled with the powerplant composed of two АИ-222 engines of joint Russia and Ukraine manufacture. This aircraft has been manufactured by the AVIC-2 corporation, with consulting assistance by the Yakovlev OKB design office. Its prototype was unveiled in September 2005, and it made its debut on 13 March 2006.

Currently, Hongdu Group is pushing its L-15 to both domestic and foreign markets. The first aircraft supply is expected in 2007. Engineering specialists who belonged to the delegation held a number of meetings with the representatives of Chinese organizations engaged in aviation development and air service: China Taly Aviation Technologies Corp., Poly Technologies Inc., Shanghai Triumph Aviation Management Co. Ltd, Shengdu Iron-Man Industrial Co. Ltd, TAECO, CATIC, AVIC-2.

Talks concerning air engine repair, upgrade, and further operation were held with the representatives of Russia’s producer factories, such Klimov Plant FGUP, Rostvertol JSC, UUAZ, Ilushin Finance Co. JSC, and Tupolev JSC.

China, the largest exhibition participant, displayed trainers, a new ARJ21 regional jet, helicopters, the reusable Shenchzhou-6 spaceship capsule, and missile technologies as well.

Russia’s display that joined about fifty companies and organizations under the auspices of Rosoboronexport on the area of about 1.500 square meters ranked second. The Sukhoy, Kamov, MiG, Ilushin companies, as well as Klimov plant and Kazan helicopter plant at al. showed their strides.

The exhibition was organized by the national government of the special economic zone of Zhuhai.
