In February 2019 the Power Plant Administration proposed the Managers of Zaporozhstal PJSC to utilize low-grade metallurgical fuels with electric and thermal power generation by means of the ÃÒÝÓÂÑ-2,5ÌÑ power complex. The heart of this complex is the ÂÒÝ-2,5ÌÑ air turbine power drive which was developed on the basis of widely known ÀÈ-20 aeroengine.
The flexibility of the ÂÒÝ-2,5ÌÑ air turbine power drive allows electric power generation by using a wide range of low-grade fuels, including those ones which were received in the result of household solid waste, coalmine methane, synthetic gas and agricultural waste recovery.
Currently the drive, as part of Polish electric power plant, is passing through the next testing stage in Karczew (Republic of Poland). Instead of fuel it uses the microbiomass which was received after grain shell processing.
