AI-25TL TURBOJET ENGINE In 1973 the AI-25TL turbofan with 1720 kgf thrust (Progress ZMKB) was built on the basis of the AI-25 engine to be used on the AERO Vodochody L-39 trainer (Czeck Republik). In 1997 the production of the AI-25TLK versions for the K-8J trainers was launched. At present the AI-25TLSh engine version has been developed, which boasts thrust increased up to 1850 kgf, twice less acceleration time and improved performance that will dramatically increase the safety of training and combat flights especially at low altitude and extend the effective operation of the L-39 plane by 10 to 15 years more. On June 13, 2002 a successful maiden flight of the updated L-39 plane powered by the Motor Sich AI-25TLSh engines took place.
