D-27 TURBOPROPFAN ENGINE

The principally new turbopropfan engine D-27 that absorbed all the merits of the world up-to-date aircraft engine-building is a new development of Progress ZMKB headed by F.M.Muravchenko. The powerplant (including D-27 engine and SV-27 propfan), due to its characteristics, is unparalleled in the world engine-building industry. The power of the engine equals 14 000 eq.hp, and fuel efficiency is by 25 to 30% better than modern turbofans. The engine is intended to power the An-70T wide-body transport plane, An-70 transport plane, Be-42 amphibian, and An-180 passenger plane. The second flight specimen of the An-70 plane has been flight-tested since April 1997. In parallel with engine operational development we are mastering its quantity production.
