The medical division of Motor Sich JSC was founded in 1966.
At present it is been headed by Lyudmila I. Zavgorodnyaya, the honored doctor of Ukraine, prize-winner of the regional contests ‘Hostess of her homeland’ and ‘Star path’, prize-winner of International award ‘St. Sophia’, delegate of the regional Council of two summons and presently, a delegate of a city Council. She has been awarded with the princess Olga Order of the third degree according to a decree of the President of Ukraine in 2006 and with the commemorative medal ‘For the development of Zaporozhye land’, honourable diploma of the trade unions of health-care workers of Ukraine.
The medical and health-improvement complex ‘Motor Sich’ today is a multifunctional medical institution furnished with the up-to-date equipment and the cutting-edge medical technologies to render qualified medical care annually not only to the employees of Motor Sich JSC but to SE Ivchenko-Progress, Zaporozhye-based engine-building factory, consumer goods plant. The medical division is an institution of the high-qualification category (accredited to the high category trice: in 1999, in 2003 and in 2006), a prize-winner of ‘Best institutions of Ukraine’ rating in the nomination ‘Medical service and health-care’.

The medical division incorporates:

• out-patients’ clinic; 
• out-patients’ clinic;
• hospital;
• physical therapy department;
• stomatology department;
• pediatric treatment and health-improving complex;
• health and beauty health-improving complex;
• department of prenosological forms of ailment.

The medical division of Motor Sich JSC incorporates 396 employees including 66 doctors (2 Cand. Sc, Med., 29 high-category doctors and 19 first-category doctors), 206 hospital nurses (74 possessing high-category and 36 - first-category).
Since February 1, 2001 the medical division together with insurance company Motor-Garant has introduced the voluntary medical insurance, which is the most advanced and promising way of rendering medical assistance to people.

The out-patient clinic is a medical and preventive health-care institution intended for 800 visits per shift and renders a highly qualified medical assistance to the workers of the above-mentioned enterprises. It arranges and conducts the entire complex of medical and health-improving and sanitary-antiepidemic measures. The doctors of 23 specialities receive people in the out-patient clinic. The out-patient clinic includes the inoculative center and 13 paramedical aid posts (one of them is a medical post and the other one is round-the-clock post).The out-patient clinic uses the automated system of general after-care treatment, which helps take into account the state of patient’s health at all stages of observing him and improving his health.
The automated system of total after-care has changed the functions of doctor (especially, shop doctor): the doctor takes under his direct supervision all people with determined diagnosis and conducts the treatment and health-improving measures according to an adopted plan. Every physician keeps after-care record of 500 to 700 patients, specialist doctors have 200 to 300 patients. The results of out-patient clinic activity are permanently high. For years the out-patient clinic ranks among the best in the ratings of people health-care in the Zaporozhye region.

HOSPITAL

The hospital is intended for 300 beds and incorporates two therapeutic departments, neurology department, urology department, gynecology department, traumatological department and otolaryngology department.
Annually 7,600 to 8,000 patients get treatment in the hospital. The planned standards of the bed utilization are the highest in the region.
The hospital widely uses all types of heat-water therapy, phytotherapy, treatment with electromagnetic field, ultrasonic treatment, laser therapy, resonance therapy, lymph-pressing treatment, pneumo-pressing, hydro-colon therapy, etc apart from traditional methods of treatment.

ferst therapeutic departments – 40 beds, twenty therapeutic departments – 60 beds.
The main goal and task of the departments is to provide all types of specialized top-quality diagnostic and preventive health-care attendance for patients who suffer from therapeutic pathology. Since the therapeutic pathology ranks among the most frequent in the structure of disease incidence, two therapeutic departments are able to accommodate 100 beds. Highly skilled department specialists widely use all medical treatment and diagnostic facilities to treat the gastroenterological, cardiological and pulmonological patients.

Neurology department

The department, which capacity is 60 beds, provides diagnostics and treatment for patients with vascular diseases, vertebrogenic and other pathology of nervous system. Functional evaluations such as rheovasography of upper and lower extremities, rheoencephalography, encephalographic examination with computed mapping, M-echo are made in the department. Patients` bioenergetical status can be determined by using AMCAT diagnostic system. Doppler extracranial vessel evaluation system has been introduced.

The capacity of urology department is 40 beds and it provides all types of specialized urological care for patients who suffer from renal diseases, the diseases of urinary tracts and male reproductive organs. The urologists can use a full range of existing treatment and diagnostics methods. The surgical treatment is provided at the up-to-date level with the use of endoscopic equipment.

The surgical operations made in the department are as follows:

• transurethral electroresection of benign prostata hyperplasia;
• transurethral electroresection of prostata tumors;
• transurethral vaporization of prostata tumors (adenoma);
• transurethral electroresection of benign urinary bladder tumors.
• transurethral electrocoagulation of benign of bladder tumors.

The state-of–the–art lithotripsy equipment such as the Swiss STORZ MEDICAL MODULIT SLK lithotriptor is used to treat urolithiasis.

The ear, nose, throat department (ENT) intended for 40 beds is fitted with the advanced STORZ endoscopic equipment.
Applied along with the computer-aided X-ray tomography, endoscopic diagnostics of otolaryngologic diseases allowed to boost the diagnostics of upper airways to a superior level. The surgeons who work at the ENT department are the high- and the first-category specialists. They are the first in the city of Zaporozhye who have applied a low-traumatic endoscopic surgical technique in nasal cavity and in accessory sinuses of nose. Applying the method of endoscopic surgical operations on ENT organs has made those operations far less traumatic, make a period of after-surgery recuperation shorter, improve the quality of recuperation and, resultantly, brought down the stay of patient in the hospital and the period of his disability. About 1000 otolaryngologic operations are made in the department annually, with 30% of them being endoscopic.

 
Not only drug treatment, but virtually a full range of surgical treatment are provided in the department intended for 40 beds. The endoscopic equipment such as KARL STORZ surgical contact microhysteroscope is used to make surgical operations on female reproductive organs. Performed with endoscopic equipment, surgical operations are less invasive and associated with minimal hemorrhage and quick patients` postoperative rehabilitation. Laparoscopy could also be used as both diagnostic and operative approach. Advanced endoscopic techniques make it possible to perform organ-saving operations.

Endoscopic surgical approach is used for both scheduled and urgent operations:

• tubotomy, tuboectomy, Fallopian tube angle ectomy;
• cystectomy, adnexectomy;
• ovarium ligation or endocoagulation;
• conservative myomectomy;
• suture plication;
• blunt and sharp disconnection of adhesion.

Hysteroscopy is a method newely-applied in the gynecology department for examining the walls of uterus cavity with optic system. This method is applied for both diagnostics and treatment of various gynecological disorders. Due to hysteroscopy, in some cases the opportunity has appeared to avoid laparotomy and, sometimes, to avoid hysterectomy.Operative hysteroscopy makes it possible to perform:

• endometrium biopsy under visual control;
• endometrium polyps removal;
• submucous myoma nodules extraction (with diameter up to 2.0 cm);
• intrauterine synechia and septum dissection;
• hyperplastic endometrium extraction;
• endometrium resection and ablation;
• foreign object extraction (intrauterine contraception device and others).

The orthopedology and traumatology department is intended for 20 beds and is a clinical base of the Zaporozhye medical university. 2 Cand. Sc, Med. work at the department. The department conducts research work together with the orthopedics and traumatology chair of the medical university and masters innovative technologies. Not only drug treatment of joint deseases, but virtually a full range of surgical treatment is provided in the department for curing musculoskeletal system. The arthroscopic equipment, which is a ‘golden standard’ for diagnostics and curing traumas and joint deseases is used for visualisation of the damaged joints and displaying them on the monitor. Further, a complex of treating surgical manipulations are performed through precise incisions. The endoscopic-equipment intrusions made into joints are better endured by the patients and shorten considerably the period of after-surgery rehabilitation.
The replacement method is used for treatment of severe joint pathologies. The ingenious implant EPK-1 manufactured at Motor Sich JSC shall be used for replacement of the knee joint.p>

Clinical and biochemical laboratory complex

• -determining condition of internal medium of the body with regard to 180 parameters;
• -electrolite analyzer permitting to determine simultaneously the content of electrolites in the blood serum and other bio-material within 30 seconds;
• -automatic biochemical analyzer Flexor of Austrian AVL Co. makes it possible to obtain around 30 different parameters on the basis of one sample of blood, analyze 150 parameters per the same working cycle with productivity of about 50 samples per hour;
• -detecting titer of onco-markers in the blood serum;
• -detecting markers of viral hepatitis;
• -determining functions of endocrine glands including evaluation of condition of the reproductive system.
